STONY BROOK, N.Y. - For the second time in three years two America East student-athletes will share the conference’s top honors, as Stony Brook senior Demmianne Cook and Albany senior Rachael Burek were named Co-Players of the Year at the annual awards reception held on Thursday on the campus of Stony Brook University, the site of the 2013 Women’s Lacrosse Championship. There also was a tie in the Rookie of the Year voting as New Hampshire’s Laura McHoul and Albany’s Rachel Bowles share that honor, and Albany head coach John Battaglino earned Coach of the Year. The awards were decided in a vote by the league’s seven head coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
